CONTRA-MESTRE PEQUENININHO

Kelvin Wyatt started training in martial arts at the age of 7. His first martial art was Tang Soo Do followed by Jiu-jitsu. However, he never felt fulfilled in each art. In his teenage years, he came across the art of Capoeira. Through a childhood friend, Kelvin started his journey in Capoeira in 1997, with Os Malandros de Mestre Touro under Mestre Preto Velho, however, he always thrived for a deeper understanding of Capoeira. This led Pequenininho to find another Mestre to learn from which introduced Mestre Caboclinho Aruanda in 2007. Pequenininho teaches the methodology of Capoeira Angola as it was passed to him. In 2009 Pequenininho graduated with the title Treinel (teacher) in Capoeira Angola and has continued to grow in Capoeira Angola.

After traveling to Salvador, Bahia in 2014 Kelvin graduated to the title Contra-Mestre in Brazil. Contra-Mestre Pequenininho’s goal much is to pass on Afro-Brazilian culture through understanding, respect & peace to the residents of Detroit & Ferndale. Kelvin has taught many lectures on Capoeira Angola to the University of Michigan, interviewed for online podcasts, & is the co-founder of the Brazilian Day Street Festival Michigan. In 2016, Kelvin started the 501(c) 3 non-profit Creative Movement Brazil which serves the residents of Michigan.
